Angkor Silk Farm –
20 mins from Artisans Angkor, in the Pouk District is the ‘Angkor Silk Farm’. This is where Angkor Artisans source all of their raw silk, ready to be dyed and woven. The Silk Farm covers an area of 8 hectares, 5 of them are used to grow the mulberry trees used for feeding the worms. Established by the National Silk Centre in 1993, the farm has become known as one of the finest silk producers in Cambodia. Since opening, the farm has opened 23 silk workshops, making it the largest employer of the region. Through implementing safe farming techniques, the farm is an attractive tourist destination for their education silk production workshops. This gives the farm money to conduct research on safe sericultural methods as well as maintaining safe working practices.
The Brand has chosen to source its raw silk from Angkor Silk Farm. This is primarily due to its close connection with Artisans Angkor, the Brands supplier of woven silk materials. Located in Siem Riep, Cambodia, ‘Ammo’ is a social business that creates handmade women and men’s jewellery. Owner, Madeline Green started the business as a way of providing encouraging opportunities for disadvantaged Khmers. Currently, the Company employs young apprentices who are trained within the areas of design, production, communication and marketing. Ammo’s main aim is to recycle and transform, hard bullets, landmine casings and scrap metal located from the effects of the Khmer Rouge period.
Ammo is the Brands supplier of producing the bags hardware. This includes; Feet Studs, Zips, Swivel Snaps and D-rings. Specifically, the Brand has chosen to conduct business with Ammo because of its unique, positive business structure. They have the ability to create handmade hardware customised specifically for the Brand. Ammo’s intriguing moulding processes make it one that the Brands consumers will be interested in.
